“WE MUST TAKE ADVENTURES IN ORDER TO KNOW WHERE WE TRULY BELONG”.

I'm Ryan and welcome to my blog! I graduated high school from Lewis Palmer in June, and made the decision to embark on the Kivu Gap Year before heading to college in 2018. I ultimately decided to go on a gap year because I was stuck. Senior year I fell for all the wrong things and I ruined a lot of relationships. I saw the Kivu Gap Year as a time to evaluate my questions about God and gain a new perspective on life. I need this year to discover myself and figure out where I belong. I'm excited for this adventure, as I've realized that it is during the times I am most outside my element that I experience myself the most. I believe that this year will help me achieve my goals and prepare me for all aspects of life.

Over the next nine months I will be traveling to Philadelphia, the Middle East, and Chile. I'll be spending 4 months in Philadelphia interning with the an organization that resettles refugees who have fled to the United States. I will be exploring the Middle East in January, and during my stay I will be living with different Muslim Families. I will be studying world religion this month, with a focus on the Israeli-Palestine conflict. I will be hearing the stories of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim people to gain a better understanding of the region's volatile relations. Santiago, Chile will be my home for the last semester of the program. Here, I will be interning with a local company, taking Spanish classes, and assimilating into the Chilean culture. I can't wait for the memories and experiences ahead and i'm stoked you can be a part of it!
